Scout Active Support allows people to give their time to Scouting on a flexible basis. People can still be involved in Scouting without the full-time commitment of being a leader.

Husband and wife team Hamish and Fiona Scott were recently rewarded for their service to the Scout Movement. Fiona was awarded the Silver Acorn in “recognition of specially distinguished service”. Hamish received the highest adult award, the Silver Wolf, in “recognition of services to Scouting of the most exceptional nature.” The Chief commissioner for Scotland Barry Donald-Hewitt (centre) made the presentations.
Between them they have almost 80 years of service to the Scout Movement, whilst Fiona has a further 15 years’ service to the Girl Guide movement. Groups locally rely solely on volunteers.

Over the last few months a number of Scout leaders from Falkirk District have been working towards gaining adventurous activity permits for Canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, rafting and climbing.  To keep our young people safe, leaders have to prove that they’re competent in the activity before they’re allowed to be in charge of that activity.  The canoe Jenga picture was taken during one of the training session and goes to show that canoeing isn’t just about getting somewhere but that you can have fun just being in a boat. All passed their qualification and are now able to take their young people out on the water.
