At the end of September, we had 23 Young Leaders participate in a training camp.
The Young Leader Scheme is a programme of 10 training modules and four missions (which are completed within the sections where they are a Young Leader). These are designed to help and support those aged between 14 and 18 who work with a section (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts) as a Young Leader. It gives Young Leaders the skills and knowledge to act as part of the section leadership team, and covers subjects such as a balanced, quality programme, Child Protection, First Aid and leadership skills.
Young Leaders from various groups and Sections across the District came together to complete this training. Some doing the whole weekend and others coming and going doing odd modules as required or as their availability allowed.
There were a mix of newer Young Leaders and some who have previously done their training but came back as a refresher and to meet others.
Once training was completed on Saturday we had down time with pizzas, movie, games, snacks and making pancakes before finishing off the modules on the Sunday morning.
Well done to all the Young Leaders who attended.
If any Young Leaders wish help or advice on completing their missions please email us at youngleaders@falkirkscouts.org.uk.
